LASER Diffraction Experiment [Using Crossed Grating]



To study the diffraction pattern of a crossed grating using a LASER source and hence to determine the grating constant.

A crossed grating is a combination of two transmission gratings such that the rulings of one are perpendicular to the rulings of the other. When a LASER beam of wavelength is incident normally on a crossed grating, a pattern of two dimensional diffraction spots will be formed on a screen placed parallel to the plane of the grating at a measured distance from it.

 

 The equipment consists of :

  1. LASER source.
  2. LASER stand with grating holder.
  3. Crossed Grating.
  4. LASER Detector head with digital Display.
  5. Travelling Microscope.
  6. Manual.
